I'm a member of the North Campus Mens Bible Study at THE Ohio State University. Today we were working our way through Hebrews and came across an interesting argument. We were talking about when Jesus died for our sins and the how he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. He was doing his duty as The high priest and offering a sacrifice for our sins (himself).
This is where everything got interesting... We know that the high priest had to give a sacrifice for himself before entering the holy of holies or else he would be struck dead because he was unclean in the presence of God. When Jesus sacrificed himself, he had taken on all the sins of the world. God turned his back on Jesus because he could not stand to look at him and in the end Jesus died. The question: Was the holy trinity broken in that moment when God turned his back on Jesus? God killed mortal men who were giving sacrifices for the people, but Jesus had ALL SIN. God would have been so sickened by the mere sight of his son that the trinity would have had to been on thin ice. Also, with Jesus dead for three days, was the trinity dead for three days since it was missing a third of the circle?
I'm not saying I'm an expert in theology. On the contrary I know very little about theology as a whole. I'm a chemistry major, not a pastor or theologian. I'm just looking for more in depth answers to why I believe what I believe. I do believe though that every day in my chemistry classes I can prove that God exists. Its quite simple. How can you see the insane microscopic details of an electrons path and not know that an all powerful being is the only way to explain how it was made. Heisenberg even says that we don't even know where a molecule is, only a 99% chance field of where its BEEN.
